Man injured by ICE vehicle during pursuit in northwest Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — A 48-year-old man was hospitalized Saturday morning after an ICE agent’s vehicle struck him during a pursuit near Clay Road and Highway 6.

The incident occurred around 7:20 a.m. as agents pursued a wanted suspect with an outstanding warrant. The suspect drove a white pickup west in the eastbound lanes before he and a passenger abandoned the truck and fled on foot.

An agent attempting to box the passenger in behind a building struck him with a vehicle. The passenger suffered a suspected broken leg and was hospitalized in stable condition with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The injured man remains in ICE custody at the hospital. His name has not been released. Authorities described him as being in the country illegally.

The pickup’s driver escaped and remained at large.

ICE requested emergency services after the collision. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, while questions about the pursuit and the events preceding the collision have been directed to ICE.
