Quanell X & Dr Candice Matthews Address Democratic Chair of Fort Bend County
HOUSTON - Activists Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanell X held a press conference today alleging misconduct by Fort Bend County Democratic Party Chair Jennifer Cantu and calling for greater transparency within the local Democratic Party.
During the event, Matthews and Quanell X accused Cantu of operating what they described as a “pay to play” system, alleging that candidates who made financial contributions received favorable treatment within the party. As part of their presentation, the two displayed copies of checks that they said were made payable to Cantu, with the combined value totaling more than $10,000. They argued that the documents support their allegations, although they did not present evidence establishing that the payments were connected to any official party decisions.
Quanell X also alleged that Paula M. Miller was removed from a position after winning a vote and was replaced by Juli Mathew. According to Quanell X, the replacement occurred despite Miller receiving the majority of votes. He questioned the process that led to the change and called for an explanation from party leadership.
The allegations made during the press conference have not been independently verified by NightSunTV.
NightSunTV has reached out to Jennifer Cantu for comment regarding the allegations, including the claims concerning the alleged “pay to play” scheme and the decision involving Paula M. Miller and Juli Mathew. Any response received will be included in future coverage.
