Quanell X Takes Up Navarro County Case, Questions Arrest and Felony Charges

Community activist Quanell X has taken up the case of a man jailed after appearing in Navarro County court to address traffic citations and is now questioning the circumstances surrounding his arrest and the filing of multiple felony charges.

The man’s mother, Tracie Robinson, said her son, Brandon Robinson, was initially stopped for speeding in Navarro County in April 2026. She said officers found drugs in the vehicle and that an altercation occurred during the arrest.

According to Robinson’s account, her son was taken to a hospital with facial injuries. She alleged that the arresting officer later returned, issued him a citation and allowed him to go home.

Robinson said her son arrived home at approximately 2:45 a.m. with bruising on his face and soiled clothing. Her description of the encounter has not been independently verified, and the officers and agencies involved have not yet provided their accounts.

After returning home, Brandon Robinson contacted the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office and arranged to make payments on the citation, his mother said. She said he made some payments but later missed one or two. When he attempted to change the arrangement, she said, he was told he would receive a court date and could address the matter in person.

On Aug. 11, Brandon Robinson traveled to Navarro County for a 9 a.m. court appearance, according to the family. His mother said he expected to resolve three citations but was instead taken into custody on five felony charges and two misdemeanor charges.

She said the bonds associated with the charges totaled more than $400,000.

Quanell X is now questioning why Robinson was allegedly released following the original traffic stop but arrested months later when he voluntarily appeared in court. He is also raising concerns about when the additional charges were filed, why the family was not notified earlier and whether the unusually high bonds were justified.

Tracie Robinson said a bail bond representative also expressed concern about the timing of the charges and the size of the bonds.

“I am hurt and disappointed in our legal system,” Robinson wrote. She acknowledged that her son should be held accountable for any wrongdoing but said the family would have sought legal advice sooner had it known he faced more serious allegations.

Quanell X said the case requires greater scrutiny and that officials should provide the public and Robinson’s family with a clear explanation of the sequence of events leading to the arrest.

The precise charges, the evidence supporting them and Brandon Robinson’s current custody status could not be confirmed from the family’s account alone. Court records, jail records and reports from the arresting agency would be needed to establish the official chronology of the case.
