Homeowner Shoots Masked Suspect After Kicking Down Door
HOUSTON, TX – A man is in critical condition after being shot by a homeowner during a forced entry incident in southwest Houston overnight, according to police.
The incident happened just after midnight in the 4800 block of Ingomar Way near Campden Hill. Investigators say two men were running up and down the street and knocking on several doors in the neighborhood before the shooting occurred.
According to the Houston Police Department, one of the men was wearing a mask while the other had blood on his head. Authorities are still investigating how the injured man was hurt prior to the shooting.
Police say the bloodied man eventually kicked in the door of a home and forced his way inside. The homeowner then shot the suspect multiple times during the break-in. The suspect was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The second suspect, who was wearing a mask, fled the scene and remains at large. Police are continuing to search for him and are asking anyone with information to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
Neighbors in the area said they were shocked by the incident, saying they are not used to seeing this type of crime in their neighborhood.
