Brandon Bartie Defeats Incumbent Joe Guillory in Jefferson County JP Race
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TX — Brandon Bartie has officially defeated incumbent Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Joseph “Joe” Guillory in Tuesday’s election, securing approximately 57.6 percent of the vote.
The victory marks a major political upset in Jefferson County, where Guillory had served as the sitting Justice of the Peace for Precinct 2. Bartie’s win came after a highly watched race that drew attention from local activists, community members, and political figures across Southeast Texas.
Throughout Election Day, supporters of Bartie were seen rallying voters across the county, while critics of Guillory publicly voiced concerns about his leadership and past actions in office.
Among those speaking out was Texas activist Dr. Candice Matthews, who appeared at polling locations Tuesday and openly endorsed Bartie. Matthews also made allegations against Guillory involving what she described as a fraudulent peace bond filed against her earlier this year, calling the matter “personal.”
Neither Guillory nor his campaign publicly addressed those allegations on Election Night.
Bartie’s 57.6 percent performance represented a decisive margin over the incumbent and signaled a significant shift among voters in Precinct 2.
The race generated increased public attention online and at polling locations throughout the day as residents closely followed turnout and results.
Final election results remain subject to official canvassing and certification by local election officials.
