Jenifer Knighton, a Houston-area self-proclaimed activist and journalist who is licensed as a chemical dependency counselor, has recently faced a wave of serious allegations circulating online, including alleged ties to human trafficking involving her daughter and other vulnerable individuals.
Knighton has built a public profile through advocacy work, social media activity, and community-focused reporting efforts. Online critics and former associates have used social media platforms to make various allegations against her, some involving alleged trafficking-related conduct, alleged abuse, and alleged exploitation of vulnerable individuals. Several videos and posts shared online claim that individuals are “speaking out” against Knighton, though many of the claims remain unverified.
NightSunTV has obtained information alleging that Knighton recently separated from Emerging Grace Ministries amid growing controversy surrounding the allegations. According to documents reviewed by NightSunTV, Knighton claimed she served as a board member for the organization before resigning. In her resignation statement, Knighton said the decision was made because of “ongoing and escalating attacks” connected to the controversy.

In a formal response submitted to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission regarding complaints filed against her, Knighton strongly denied allegations of human trafficking and criminal conduct. In the filing, she described the accusations as “entirely false” and pointed to her alleged involvement with anti-trafficking organizations and advocacy work as evidence contradicting the claims.
The filing also includes responses to allegations involving misconduct, online harassment, drug activity, and accusations tied to organized crime. Knighton repeatedly characterized the allegations as retaliatory and part of what she described as a coordinated smear campaign tied to disputes with public figures and former associates.

Critics have also accused Knighton of attempting to shift or control the public narrative by attacking critics and accusers through posts published on the Facebook page QX Global News Network, a page associated with Knighton. In her HHSC response, Knighton acknowledged ownership involvement with QX Global News Network while also stating that multiple publishers contribute content to the platform. Critics allege the page has been used to publicly target opponents, while Knighton has framed the posts as protected journalism and commentary.
Dr. Candice Matthews has also led multiple protests outside Knighton’s Katy-area home in response to the allegations circulating online. One of the most notable demonstrations allegedly occurred on Friday, February 13, 2026, where protesters gathered demanding accountability and answers surrounding the accusations against Knighton. During the protest, Knighton allegedly accused those involved of being “liars” and “frauds” while continuing to deny wrongdoing.
Jack Quillin of NightSunTV has also spoken with a woman who alleged that Knighton trafficked her into Mexico, where she claimed she was held against her will for a period of time. The woman alleged that she was transported while in a vulnerable state and later came to believe she did not have full control over her ability to leave the situation. NightSunTV has not independently verified all aspects of those allegations, and Knighton has publicly denied trafficking-related accusations.
Documents reviewed by NightSunTV additionally include a statement from registered nurse Terri Gartman, who defended Knighton and disputed allegations that Knighton trafficked or kidnapped a woman connected to a rehabilitation situation in Mexico. Gartman alleged that Knighton instead intervened to help an allegedly drug-dependent woman receive treatment after what she described as repeated overdoses and erratic behavior.
Critics reviewing the statements submitted to HHSC have pointed to what they describe as troubling inconsistencies and red flags surrounding the alleged transport of vulnerable individuals to Mexico. Social media posts and commentary circulating online argue that the statements reveal patterns involving alleged financial dependency, alleged control over housing and treatment decisions, and alleged cross-border movement involving individuals described as impaired or unstable.
Among the issues being raised publicly are allegations involving third-party funding for housing, legal defense, treatment placement, and travel arrangements. Critics allege that the combination of financial support, transportation across state and international lines, and involvement in treatment decisions could raise questions about undue influence or coercive control. The allegations remain unproven, and no public criminal findings confirming those claims were identified.
Knighton has also allegedly acknowledged in previous public discussions that Child Protective Services conducted numerous investigations involving her family within roughly a one-year period. Critics have pointed to those alleged statements as part of broader concerns surrounding her history with child welfare authorities, though NightSunTV has not independently verified the exact number or outcomes of those investigations.
Online commentators have also questioned whether individuals allegedly transported to Mexico were capable of fully consenting to treatment-related decisions due to alleged drug use, mental health instability, or overdoses described in the statements themselves. Critics have argued that federal investigators often examine issues involving alleged impaired capacity, custodial-style control, and cross-border movement when reviewing potential trafficking-related allegations.
A recurring theme in the online criticism involves what opponents describe as “narrative control,” pointing to Knighton’s repeated characterization of the allegations as part of a smear campaign. Critics allege that multiple unrelated individuals have raised concerns over time, while supporters maintain that Knighton is being unfairly targeted because of her activism and online reporting activities.
One of the most widely shared online questions connected to the controversy has been “Where is Jazmin Perez?”, referring to allegations made online regarding another alleged victim. At the time of publication, NightSunTV could not independently verify the claims circulating online related to Perez or determine whether any official findings support those allegations.
Another document reviewed by NightSunTV shows that the Texas Health and Human Services Commission completed an investigation into complaints against Knighton under case number 1069260027. According to the findings letter dated December 17, 2025, allegations involving misrepresentation of credentials and conduct that could discredit the profession were listed as “unsubstantiated.” A separate allegation regarding potential exploitation or abuse was listed as “inconclusive.” The letter concluded by stating that “no violations of rules were substantiated” and that the matter was closed.
Knighton’s filing also references alleged retaliation connected to her reporting activities and disputes involving multiple Houston-area personalities and organizations. In the response, she claimed fabricated posts, AI-generated messages, and altered images were used to discredit her and target members of her family.
Despite the severity of the accusations circulating online, the allegations remain allegations. The matter continues to play out largely through public statements, social media disputes, and administrative complaints rather than confirmed criminal court proceedings.
