Dr Candice Matthews Demands Answers Over Christian Menefee Missing Multiple Votes at Press Conference
HOUSTON, TX – Activist Dr. Candice Matthews held a press conference alleging that newly elected Congressman Christian Menefee failed to cast votes on eight House roll call measures in the days following the State of the Union address.
During the event, Dr. Matthews said the information was brought to her attention by individuals in Washington, D.C., whom she described as political observers. She referenced several pieces of legislation tied to the roll call votes, including H.R. 6329, aviation safety measures, and energy related proposals such as the Home Appliance Protection and Affordability Act and the Homeowners Energy Freedom Act.
Dr. Matthews stated that official House records reflect Menefee was marked as not voting on roll calls numbered 71 through 78. She noted that members from both parties were listed as not voting on certain measures, but said Menefee was absent for all eight votes.
According to Dr. Matthews, Menefee was in Houston during that period for campaign related activities. She clarified that her criticism was not centered on his attendance at the State of the Union address, but rather on his absence from subsequent recorded votes.
Dr. Matthews called on the congressman to publicly explain the missed votes and said constituents deserve accountability from elected officials tasked with representing them in Congress.
She concluded by saying she intends to continue reviewing voting records and keeping the community informed about the actions of their elected representatives.
